Wednesday Update on our Trip to VGH - with correction

The bed was not available.

I drove Richard in along with the boys. I dropped him off, as I mentioned in last night's post. I continued to Marpole Community Centre playground and waterpark with the boys and met up with my dad there while Richard got bloodwork done and waiting for results to hear if he was
a) getting platelets
b) getting a hickman line
c) getting admitted
d) coming in again Thursday
The answer to all four was "No". Richard updated me a few times while I was at the playground, and at 11:30am, he said to come pick him up, so I dried off AJ, packed the boys back in the car, and headed to go get him.
His platelets are at 22 (that's after a transfusion of platelets yesterday). They transfuse at 15. They are going to stretch him out until Friday when he'll come in for 9am for bloodwork. They'll tank him up with platelets, and the Hickman Line is scheduled to be put in for 2pm. Supposedly this will not be done by Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum this time, and instead by real doctors, by the doctors who normally install Hickman Lines. He has expressed his concern to his nurses and schedulers about last year's hack-job and the whole concept of not wanting to be getting anything done at the hospital on a Friday night when all the important people have gone home for the weekend.
As for being admitted, don't have more information. Looks like it will be like last year. He'll go in on Saturday for a dressing change, and who knows...
He could get a bed that day. They won't admit him until he has a Hickman Line installed, and that opening didn't happen until this coming Friday.
After picking him up around 11:55pm, my dad (who met us at the playground earlier) took us all to lunch.
The boys and I slept most of the way home, and Richard's having a nap right now. He's happy to have another day to prepare.

Keep sending your love, good vibes, well wishes, and prayers. We love it all.
