It's About Time

Oh my goodness. I'm WAY behind. I had every intention of writing this two weeks ago. I loaded the pictures and then I was just too busy, too tired, and too excited about the great weather. Sorry!

Now there are so many more pictures and they're not ready to show you because my laptop is broken. I'm typing from Richard's computer right now. I thought I'd better get a little caught up so I am not so swamped when the rest of the pics get loaded.

Here we go:

This is a typical Tuesday at my house. I have Jack and Rya on Tuesdays, and while Jen's housecleaner is at her house, Jen is more than happy to get outta the way and come on over. Once we pick up the 'big kids' from preschool, this is what it looks like!
Looks fun, huh?

And what do we have here? These two. They're both such cuddlers. If they were teenagers, I would be worried about what was going on here. They are watching a movie and AJ is caressing Makenna's tights. Good grief!

Here are my crazy boys taking turns dragging each other down the hall. These two have been very good buddies. Lots and lots of wrestling, cars, trains, and big fun. They played in Dexter's room for about an hour today. Later, they played wonderfully again (no fighting) downstairs in the afternoon. What a treat.

Guess what?

My friend Allison came for a visit! She was in town for the Olympics and was able to come by on her way home! YAY! Here she is with her son, Silas. AJ was pouting here (I cannot remember why), and Dexter is being a monster under the blanket.

Often, on a Wednesday, when Nanny-Kim watches the boys, her friend Kareen comes too. Here's Kareen making popcorn with Dex.

This is my rastadexian.

Remember those Valentine's we made? Here's one of the pics we didn't use, but it looked so darned cute, I had to post it!

There's my pretend daughter again. As I was doing some purging, I came upon some skookum green ribbon that just happened to match with Rya's cute shirt. So...... yah.... I had to do it.

The zoo! The zoo!
It was such a beautiful day. I just had to go. It had been so long. AJ couldn't wait to get to the zoo... err, uh... I mean... the playground. We didn't even get half way through the zoo when he begged to go back to the playground. What a great day.

I don't know what happened to this pic.

The snake slide!

Dexter was so proud that he was finally tall enough to get up to each level. He must've gone down this slide 50 times.

AJ was loving his shadow on this beautiful day and he asked me to take he and his shadow's picture.

I have lots and lots to say, but it's 9pm and I'm bagged. I'll update again when I have the rest of the pictures up, including the Olympic pics!

Valentine's Day Fast Approaches and a Visit with Grannie and Papa

Valentine's Day is on it's way!

I've asked Richard if he minded if we didn't exchange cards this year. Of course, he was more than happy not to give into the

Grand-Day-of-Consumerism-Disguised-As-Love

However, that did not stop me from buying the Purdy's chocolate hearts on a stick from the Beavers and Scouts for AJ and Dex outside of Walmart.

AJ has a card exchange with his preschool friends. Thanks to my friend, Lee-Ann posting the top 10 sites that make her happy, I was able to borrow this idea from another blog who in turn borrowed it from here.

I am quite pleased. It was a joint effort between Mommy, Daddy, and AJ (who helped poke all the lollipops through the holes and of course, posed for the picture).

Here is the fruits of our very limited labour x 22 (the ones for the teachers are a little more exciting).

Isn't it cute?

Grannie and Papa

Grannie and Papa came to see us this weekend. Believe it or not, we still hadn't gotten together with them for Christmas! Poor Grannie hadn't seen Dexter since October! He must've looked so different to her!

It was a short but wonderful visit. After my morning at the gym and the Infrared Sauna (which was awesome), I headed home to tidy up a bit more before our guests arrived. Bud and Norma arrived with their arms full of Christmas. It was gifts all around. The boys went nutso. AJ got 'what he always wanted' (a two wheel scooter), and Dexter got a big mega pack of Disney Pixar Cars which both boys flipped over! I got new dishes, a new scarf (weaved by Norma herself, of course), cool mittens and fingerless mittens (again, Norma), and more. Richard got not one frying pan, but many, and a sauce pan. And more.

Dexter was jamming all evening on his new keyboard too.

The boys were excited to see Grannie and Papa, as were we. After a delicious Butter Chicken dinner (no rice or naan for Richard and I... sniff sniff), Norma and Bud went back to the hotel, and we all turned in for the night. The next morning, we got to visit again before saying good-bye.

Thanks for coming to see us! Thanks for the gifts!

Later that day:

I took the boys to Eagle Mountain to ride their scooters. They had a blast. Dexter wanted to go on the slides despite the rain. He was soaked! But that didn't stop him from having a good time.

AJ starting his ride.

Dexter starting his ride.

AJ's taken way off ahead (with permission) at this point. Can you see him rounding the bend?

Dexter enjoying the slides.
Despite the water.

AJ telling me why he laid his scooter down on the grass. "That's what the big kids do with their scoo....."
.......ters, Mom"

AJ made a funny comment after a small wipe-out on his scooter:

"I don't like getting hurt. What if people bounced? Wouldn't that be great, Mom!?"

Awww. That would be great.

As promised, after our fun, I took the boys to Starbucks to get a special drink each. AJ wanted to go inside and sit, so poor Dexter just happily sat in his soaking wet jeans while drinking his lemonade and playing with his match-box car set.

A lady was sure to comment on how handsome the boys looked in their 'trendy' sweaters that Norma made for the boys a year or so ago, which the lady was sure must've been from The Gap. She went on and on about them and even said something again about the great colours as I was walking away. She just loved them.

You may remember these sweaters from the Pumpkin Patch post...

The Torch

I wanted to watch the torch get passed tonight, but both boys were in dire need of an early bedtime, so it was a no-go.

Phuzzy Phone Photos

I didn't realize I needed to clean my lens on my phone.

AJ and Makenna on a motorcycle at a recent birthday party.

Dexter at his soccer class.
If he chooses to continue with this professionally, I think he'll have to be a goalie because he picks up the ball with his hands a lot.

Preschool

Totally forgot about this cute pic. Here are 'the kids' when Jen and I picked up Jack, Makenna, and AJ from preschool one day. The child on the far right is not with us, but is one of the preschool pals.
Cute isn't it?

Share a Chair Day

This picture was taken back on Tuesday, but since I wanted to mention something heart-tuggingly sweet that AJ said today, I thought it was a good chance to post this cute pic.

AJ upon walking into Dexter's room when Dexter had woken from his nap, peeks up to Dexter, says, "Look out the window, Dexter", then hops down, opens the drapes, and says,
"Look! It's a beautiful day today, Dexter!"
