Christmas Morning Joy for Mommy

It's funny what kinds of things make my heart burst with joy and excitement for my kids on Christmas morning.  Sometimes I do not think I'm a normal mom.  Actually, I know I'm not.  Here were the highlights of my Christmas morning:

1.  The excitement on the boys' faces when they opened their Santa gift and their main gift from Richard and I which were exactly what they asked for.

2.  Watching AJ build his enormous Lego sets like Jabba the Hut's Palace (soon the Millennium Falcon) all by himself in his room without asking for any help.  And, watching Dexter sit in a chair with his feet up on a stool just watching AJ build this.  Silently.  Actually, entertained by watching someone else build Lego.

3.  Getting to build Dexter's lego stuff myself...lol.

4.  And when Dexter opened a $10 gift card and another card with $10 cash, and I said to him, "Look, you have $10 there and another $10.  Do you know how much money you have now?"  (which was not actually question, rather the beginning of my statement where I would end with ....   "$20 whole dollars!"  But instead, to my shock and aw, Dexter answered, and said, "Yah.  $20."  Like it was no big deal.  He had no idea how much that meant to me.  It would not have surprised me at 4, to hear AJ answer that question.  I knew he knew that stuff, but that whole 'second born' thing leaves me pleasantly surprised when Dexter knows things and I can't figure out how or why.  And yes, later I asked him if he knew what $10 plus $10 plus $10 is and he said, "$30".   Oddly though, I don't think he can tell me what 5+4 equals....lol.
I wanted to remember that and mark it in Dexter's 'baby book'.  He's my little bright bunny and I forget that sometimes.

Thanks to my Dad for sleeping over for the past 3 nights, watching the boys while we went to Ken's 50th birthday party, hanging out with us, taking the boys for a crisp walk outdoors, playing with the boys, watching LOTS of children's movies, and sharing Christmas morning with us.

Christmas dinner. I'm looking forward to it!

A Little Bit of Pumpkin Patch and ...

The Apple Barn 2012!!
Too lazy to turn pictures.  As Blogger gets more and more easy for uploading pictures in batches quickly, I'm amazed that they do not have a rotating option that I can notice.
